Murroe v Cappamore Celtic
Murroe u14s start new year with win in local Derby.
Under14 Prem 30/09 14:00
Murroe 3 - 1 Cappamore Celtic
Murroe claimed the spoils in closely fought derby game played in great conditions. Cappamore started brightly but Jamie Kirby in Murroe goals kept out an early effort from Billy Daly. Soon Murroe gained control with the Quaid twins Killian & Liam winning the midfield battle. David Moloney opened the scoring after 8mins latching on to a through ball from Brian O'Keefe to finish calmly. Murroe continued to press and after David Moloney was taken down in the box he dusted himself down to stroke home the peno. As the half came to a close Cappamore exerted some pressure but Murroe back four held firm. 2-0 at the break. Second half Cappamore with some positional changes had a couple of efforts which Jamie Kirby dealt well with. Murroe went 3 up on 5mins with a nice flowing move, Mikey Walsh finding Brian O'Keefe who played lovely through ball for Ciaran Darcy who after a great run , laid it back for David Moloney to strike into the top corner to complete his hattrick. Roan van Dijk & Ciaran D'Arcy both went close soon after. Cappamore never gave up the fight and pulled a goal back with ten mins left with a worldy goal from 25 yards. Murroe held firm with Jeffrey O'Rourke in particular outstanding at the back. Good open game with Murroe deserving of the win.

Castle United v Cappamore Celtic
Castle U15s bounce back against Cappamore

Castle United 6 - 2 Cappamore Celtic

After a chastening result against a powerful Knockainey side our U15s were looking to make amends. And they did it in some style. Two early goals in the first half for Castle helped to settle the nerves. With the freedom to play our boys moved the ball around with pace and confidence. It was not long before a third was added. However, Cappamore did manage to pull one back before the half time break. A gentle reminder came from the management about the last time we came in at half time with a strong lead. But the mistakes of Murroe were not to be repeated.

Instead the boys went out with renewed vigour and added further to the score line. A lapse in concentration gifted Cappamore a second goal. But it would prove to be no more than a consolation. Not long after, an outstanding last ditch tackle from Shaun Moloney left two Cappamore players on the ground while the ball was cleared to safety. There was to be no fightback from the opposition. In the end a hat-trick of goals apiece for Jimmy Quilty and Fergal O Connor gave Castle a comfortable win.
