Our U12's, after emerging from a hard fought win on Thursday night away to a determined Knockainey, took to the pitch again yesterday to play Cullen.
Two matches in two days is a tough ask on any player but, due to the strength and depth of the squad, along with the work ethic of all the players we felt confident going into the game knowing that a win or a draw and we would be crowned league champions.
From the kick off the game was played at a frantic pace with both side's enjoying varying amounts of possession. Our breakthrough came just before half time with a sublime goal from the ever industrious Hugh Murnane. To their credit Cullen proved to be very tough opponents and pushed us all the way to the final whistle. We held out for the win, due to a fantastic team effort and won the league.
To the U12 squad of Art, Colin, Colm, Corey, Cathal, Danny, Harry, Hugh, Jack, Jake, Katie P, Katie O, Luke, Lorcan, Patrick, Ross and Robert a huge congratulations to you all for the hard work that ye put in throughout the year in training. The winning of the league is testament to the work that you have all put in this season.
To the parents of the players for your commitment in ensuring that your kids made training / matches week in and week out, thank you. Only for your continued support we would not be able to field a team each week.
Also congratulations to the U13's who won the shield last weekend, this along with the success of the U12's makes it a successful season for all involved in the underage setup.
Promotion beckons and with it new and exciting challenges!
